Dr. Ali Alfardan is an environmental and sustainability professional with over 20 years of experience in Bahrain’s, regulatory, industrial, and energy sectors.
He specializes in environmental chemistry and sustainability management, with a focus on decarbonization and the transition to cleaner energy solutions.
At ChemSafe 2025, Dr. Alfardan will participate in the “Human Factors” panel and present a technical paper titled “From Source to Tap: The Chemistry of Potable and Waste Waters,” sharing perspectives on sustainable water management practices.
Mr. Rasim Qureshi possesses an extensive 26-year tenure in the chemical, petrochemical, oil refining, and EPC sectors, specializing in Health, Safety, Security, and Environment (HSSE) expertise. His professional trajectory has been characterized by a deep-seated passion for process safety, technical safety, design HSE, fire engineering, and commissioning/decommissioning of projects, including construction safety. Through his affiliations with multinational corporations such as Exxon, SABIC, ADNOC, Qatar Petroleum, Amazon and SNC Lavalin, Mr. Qureshi has garnered a comprehensive understanding of industry best practices, leveraging mature systems to inform his expertise.
The diverse array of experiences accumulated by Mr. Qureshi throughout his career has equipped him with the ability to drive performance enhancements and effect significant improvements in HSSE and process safety programs. His professional engagements have spanned a broad spectrum of cultural contexts, including North America, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia, demonstrating his capacity to integrate and effectively orchestrate collaborative efforts with diverse cultural groups. By leveraging his global network, Mr. Qureshi has emerged as a key contributor to business development, recruitment, and cross-industry connectivity.
Mr. Qureshi’s technical expertise encompasses a wide range of HSSE disciplines, including safety engineering, OSHA and CCPS Process Safety Management, HAZID, HSEMS, consequence analysis, HSEIA, COMAH, HAZOP Analytics, LOPA, SIL, OHRA, and API-based Process Safety KPIs. He is well-versed in relevant industry standards, including OSHA, API, IEC, and NFPA. His professional assignments have been situated in USA, Canada, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Pakistan, primarily within the oil and gas sector, with a focus on facilities such as ammonia, utilities, polypropylene, ethylene, ethylene oxide, PVC, chlorine, EDC-VCM, refineries, hydrocrackers, and power plants.
In addition to his technical expertise, Mr. Qureshi has provided HSSE and process safety support to engineering teams during the Pre-FEED, FEED, construction, and detailed engineering phases of SAGD and oil & gas projects, as well as liquid Hydrogen, Fuel cell technology, hydrogen electrolyzers, LNG and LPG facilities. He is also part of the technical committees for National Fire Protection association NFPA 30, NFPA 496/497/499 and CSA Z767 Canadian process safety standard. He has successfully leveraged his vision for HSE excellence by adopting advanced tools to optimize risk management, budgetary considerations, and operability, driving results for high-reliability organizations worldwide. Over the past several years, Mr. Qureshi has played a pivotal role in providing HSE guidance and coaching, contributing to strategy development on HSE-related matters for CEOs and board of directors, and collaborating closely with major joint venture partners and stakeholders.

Adel is an HSE Expert with over 21 years of Experience in different field of HSE, he worked as Mechanical Engineer at initial stages of his carrier and then shifted to work as Occupational HSSE Specialist. He worked as an Operational health and Safety leading organization to implement, monitor and development of ISO 14001/45001, ISO 14001 and PSM (Process Safety Management) in the aluminum Smelting, Refineries, petrochemicals, and other downstream industries. Part of it the development of HSE Procedures, being a Lead Auditors for ISO 45001/OHSAS 18001 and ISO 14001. Since 2006, Adel was a professional trainer for NEBOSH, IOSH, HBAC, CIEH and other Occupational Health and Safety Courses as a part time and full time deliver for different organization in Bahrain, KSA, UAE, Oman, Kuwait, Sudan and other countries in the region including oil and gas companies.
In addition, Adel works as a designing engineer for Safety and Fire System, making sure that people, plant and equipment are protected from the damages.
Dr. Abdulhasan Aldairi is the chairman of Bahrain SMEs Society and the United International SMEs Organisation (UNISMO) and also the deputy chairman of the Bahrain Management Society (BMS).
He currently serves as the chairman of Green Foods Company, Blue Ocean Company and the deputy chairman of Khair Holding Company as well as board member of Nawat Holding Company.
He has been a researcher and practitioner in the field of entrepreneurship and SMEs development for almost 30 years. Moreover, he is the founder of the UN MSMEs Day Conference – Bahrain, shareholder, and board member of various companies.
With a PhD in Entrepreneurship and MBA in Marketing Management, in addition to his Family Business background, Dr. Aldairi enjoys a wealth of experience in the private and public sectors as well as an accumulated teaching and training best practices in banking, vocational and academic
higher institutions. He is also well known for introducing entrepreneurship education to the tertiary level students in Bahrain since 1996.
Dr. Aldairi represented the Kingdom of Bahrain in various international forums and extended his services to the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), the International Labour Organization (ILO), and various other international organizations.
He’s been appointed by HM King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the King of Bahrain as Member of the Capital Municipal Council since November 2022, and he was also appointed by HM King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa as Member of the Jaffaria Endowment Board in July 2015.
Previously, Dr. Aldairi served as the Assistant CEO and Manager of the stakeholder relations at the Bahrain Polytechnic University (2010-2019) and prior to that he was appointed by the Late Prime Minster of the Kingdom of Bahrain as the Director of Community Development Centers at the Ministry of Social Development (2006-2010), few to mention.
In 2018, he was awarded by the Governor of the Capital Manama, Bahrain as one of the ’50 Most Inspiring Leaders’ in Bahrain.

Paul is responsible for the Health Committee and Safety Working Group at the Institute. This includes managing a broad range of issues related to occupational, community & environmental health & safety, as well as engagement with regulatory issues including emissions and chemicals management, materials handling and transport.
